New history department at the University of Dubrovnik
Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia has granted the official permission to University of Dubrovnik and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, to begin with enrolment in the common BA program entitled „History of the Adriatic and the Mediterranean“. The new study will begin in the academic year 2015/2016 at the University of Dubrovnik, and the entire curriculum will last for three years, encompassing 180 ECTS points.
The program of this study is fairly different from those of other history departments in Croatia. Namely, instead of including all the historical periods and world-wide perspective, it is focused and specialized in both a chronological and a geographical sense. Chronologically it is focused on the medieval and early modern periods (ca. 6th-18th century). Geographically, it is mostly concerned with the broadly understood Mediterranean area, with a particularly strong accent on the history of the Adriatic. Such a peculiar approach is uniquely suited to the history and scientific infrastructure of Dubrovnik and its broader region, which is the space expected to primarily benefit from the new department.
The conditions of enrolment will be published in the Concourse for the enrolment into the first year of BA studies in the academic year 2015/2016. All the information will be available at the following web-page: www.unidu.hr/upisi.
