Irena Ipšić
Irena Ipšić (*09.06.1976, Zagreb) is an assistant professor at the University of Dubrovnik. She graduated from the Faculty of Tourism and Foreign Trade in Dubrovnik, University of Dubrovnik (2005). She obtained her doctoral degree from the doctoral study “History of population”, at the University of Zagreb and the University of Dubrovnik (2012). The title of her dissertation was Development of the village of Orebić during the 19th century (according to the cadastre from the reign of Francis I. as the source for research of urban, economic and demographic circumstances).
She worked (2003-2014) as an operation manager in the private firm Filatelija i numizmatika Ragusina. From 2016. she is employed at the University of Dubrovnik (Study “History of the Adriatic and the Mediterranean”) first as a postdoctoral researcher and from 2017 as an assistant professor. From 2017. she is a head of Postgraduate Doctoral Study “History of population” (University of Zagreb and University of Dubrovnik).
From 2006 to 2016. she participated in several research projects within the Postgraduate Doctoral Study “History of population” – The Beginning of Demographic Transition in Croatia, Crime Trends in 18th century Republic of Ragusa, Depopulation in Historical Old City of Dubrovnik, The eighteenth-century last wills of Dubrovnik: demographic and social features; Analysis of Demographic Trends and Social Networks in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century Based on Parish Registers and Wills.
She is a team member of the project Transformations of the Collective and Individual Identities in the Dubrovnik Republic from the Late Middle Ages until the Nineteenth Century – COLINDA (2013-2018) HRZZ-5106, financed by Croatian Scientific Foundation.
She is a member of The Editorial Board of Dubrovnik Annals; member of Croatian Anthropological Society, member of Croatian National Committee of Historical Sciences, member of European Society of Historical Demography and member of Matica hrvatska.
