Vesna Miović

Vesna Miović (1961, Dubrovnik), Menager, Research Advisor with tenure. She graduated in Oriental studies from the University of Sarajevo and obtained her PhD from the University of Zagreb in 1996 with the dissertation entitled “Relations at the Ottoman-Ragusan border (1667-1806)”. Her research is focused on the documents of the State Archives of Dubrovnik, especially the rich collection of Ottoman archivalia, a portion of which she has published in two volumes. Her main scholarly interests include the Ottoman-Ragusan relations on various levels (from private and personal to interstate) and, more recently, the history of Ragusan Jews from the 16th to the 19th century. She is the member of the Editorial Board of the journals Anali zavoda za povijesne znanosti HAZU u Dubrovniku and Dubrovnik Annals, and a member of European Association for Jewish Studies and Society for Sephardic Studies. She also teaches at the PhD programme “History of Population” at the University of Dubrovnik.
